Are you dealing with nagging elbow, wrist, or hand pain?
You’re not alone. Repetitive stress injuries of the upper extremity account for nearly 30% of all workplace injuries in the U.S., and elbow tendinopathy alone affects up to 3% of the adult population annually. Whether your pain stems from lifting, computer use, gripping, or overuse in the gym—these problems can make it hard to train, type, or sleep.
At Voltex Physical Therapy in Austin, TX, we focus on identifying the underlying cause of your pain—not just the site. Our one-on-one sessions combine hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, mobility drills, and progressive loading to help you regain pain-free strength and function.
Don’t let your elbow, wrist or hand pain limit your life. Schedule your personalized session with our Doctors of Physical Therapy today and take the first step toward lasting relief.
Injuries We Treat Most: Elbow, Wrist & Hand
We commonly treat athletes, lifters, desk workers, and weekend warriors with a variety of upper extremity injuries, from overuse to trauma.
Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow)
Irritation of the common extensor tendon on the outer elbow, often from gripping, typing, or lifting. Causes pain with wrist extension, gripping, and resisted movement.
Medial Epicondylitis (Golfer’s Elbow)
Pain on the inside of the elbow from overuse of the flexor muscles—common in golfers, lifters, and manual workers.
Wrist Tendinopathy
Inflammation or degeneration of wrist tendons from repetitive strain, lifting, or poor ergonomics. Pain worsens with typing, push-ups, or gripping.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Compression of the median nerve in the wrist causing numbness, tingling, or weakness in the hand and fingers—often worse at night or with prolonged wrist use.
Ulnar Nerve Entrapment
A “funny bone” issue causing numbness or weakness in the ring and pinky fingers—commonly from cycling, pressing, or resting elbows on hard surfaces.
De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis
Irritation of tendons on the thumb side of the wrist—frequent in new parents, lifters, and anyone doing repetitive thumb/wrist movements.
TFCC Injury (Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex)
A cartilage tear in the wrist, often due to load-bearing or twisting, causing deep wrist pain with pressing or weight-bearing.
Trigger Finger or Thumb
A catching or locking sensation in the fingers or thumb due to thickening of the flexor tendon sheath, often treated conservatively with manual therapy and exercise.
Post-Fracture or Post-Surgical Stiffness
Reduced mobility or pain after injury or surgery—requiring joint mobilization, strength retraining, and neuromuscular re-education.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY
EXCELLENT Based on 164 reviews Rachael Bishop2025-07-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr Hector is an exceptional provider. As a nurse who is particular with my providers, I can say I highly recommend this practice. Dr Hector is extremely intelligent and detail oriented when it comes to his care. He explains everything very well and takes the time to do so. I was very nervous about the dry needling and didn’t know much about it but it has become one of the best and ONLY things to help my neck and shoulder pain. I am very lucky to be in his care and it has been life changing with the improvements of my mobility and pain issues. Mark McClain2025-07-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've made some real progress on some long-standing issues working Dr. Karan at Voltex. Highly recommended! Miranda DiGiovanni2025-07-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Hector has been treating me for TMJ but has also been helping me with nutrition and setting up a health plan for when I go to college. He doesn’t make me feel like a random client I can tell he puts in a lot of thought and effort into his care for me. I highly recommend working with him! Indrani Basu2025-07-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hector is incredibly knowledgable about the nuances of the body and I highly recommend him! I was referred by my dentist for jaw clicking, an issue that few practitioners have the expertise to address. I had expected to be doing a lot of repetitive mouth exercises, but the process turned out to be much more than that. Hector created a comprehensive training plan for not only my jaw, but my neck and back muscles to improve my posture. We also do a combination of dry needling and massage to relax the muscles that are overactive. Hector pays attention to the root causes of issues and cares about your whole body, not just the "problem areas". He is also so fun to talk to, and I always look forward to my appointments. If you are open-minded you will experience great results and gain a deeper understanding of your individual body. Jack Gray2025-07-10Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Karan has done an awesome job helping me with my shoulder. I’ve seen 3 different physical therapists post op (which was ~12 years ago) and none have brought the relief, improvements in mobility and restored function quite like he has in the 6 weeks I’ve been working with him. He thinks creatively about how to address the root cause and is really committed to my success as a patient! Becky Camacho2025-07-10Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Karan is great! After 3 sessions I felt stronger and was able to walk better after 3 surgeries on my left hip. Fernando Sedelmeier2025-07-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. For many years, I have sought for physical therapy treatments that are effective and sustainable. While I have found some that have helped me, never the way Dr. Hector Tricas at Voltex Physical Therapy has helped me out. I have been training and competing in martial arts for the last 38 years of my life and that comes with a laundry list of injuries, therapies, etc. The way Dr. Tricas addresses those have been simply life changing in just a few months of sessions. In a very clean, safe, professional environment, Dr. Tricas diagnoses the issues you have, and scientifically provides the right treatment and therapy for what it is causing pain and discomfort. His approach is very strategic and addresses your problem from every single angle, ensuring a sustainable recovery. In a few sessions, I went from having pain and reduced mobility in my hips and shoulders, to being able to perform fluidly in martial arts and in life in general. I recommend Voltex Physical Therapy and Dr. Hector Tricas to anyone having any pain or issue that it's impeding them to perform at their best. His experience as an accomplished high-level athlete in Spain and the USA gives him the empathy and knowledge of what each of us athletes go through. Rita Lavoie2025-07-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been working with Dr. Karan for just about a month now. We have been working through lots of variations of recovery for my hips, back and ankle. I broke my ankle a little under 2 years ago so seeking Dr.Karan has given me even more hope to be able to do almost all activities again with little to no pain. The sessions start off with an overall check in, we create and action plan for what we’re going to do, we then start out with dry needling and some soft tissue work. Based off that we have been implementing some corrective exercises to ensure my ankle is regaining full range of motion with control and no pain. Just in the few weeks I have seen and felt that results from these sessions and I couldn’t not recommend anymore on the professionalism and work that Dr. Karan and Voltex provide. Victoria Cabello2025-07-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Karan was instrumental in helping me recover from my shoulder injury. He was very thorough during his assessment and explained my treatment plan in great detail. After starting dry needling and at-home exercises, I saw a significant decrease in pain and improvement in mobility. My recovery wouldn’t have been the same without his support. I highly recommend Dr. Karan and Dr. Hector - two highly skilled physicians who are equally admirable as people. Stella Qian2025-07-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Karan has been awesome for my journey. I had multiple experiences with PTs, acupuncture therapists, and a podiatrist, but they tend to ask me to stop doing my physical activities or only help my discomfort to a very minor extent. I can’t believe I saw significant and qualitative improvements over 3 visits. I had specific limitation on my turnout muscles for my hip joint so that I wasn’t able to make good progress in ballet for almost a decade. I was delighted. Please give it a shot here. It might surprise you.
